Celtic's NE Ohio Team Participates in Relay for Life

A 2010 Relay For Life event was held on May 14th and 15th at Churchill Park in Liberty Township, Ohio. Because cancer never sleeps - this event lasted for 24 hours!

With teams of people camping out at the park and taking turns walking or running around a track, it was a fun-filled and action-packed 2 days. A Celtic team of 30 employees and their family members participated. The team's theme was Mind, Body and Spirit - utilizing the Celtic triquetra logo.

Various teams participated in competitions including Best Late Night Snack, Funny Talent Contest and Best Tent Design- with Celtic winning the Funny Talent contest as Regional Director Dawn Dominic and her "belly dancing troupe" wowed the crowds at 2am.

This event, which included over 40 teams, brought in over $178,000. As first- time participants, the Celtic team raised $4660.65, and is already looking forward to next year's event!

Barbara Bradford & Denise McAfee are Celtic's Customer Service Champions of the Month!

Barbara Bradford, MSW, and Denise McAfee, RN are being honored as May's Customer Service Co-Champions of the Month. This award, which is determined from nominations by coworkers and managers, is a monthly initiative to reward great customer service.

The following is an excerpt from a letter from a family who had great needs over a holiday weekend. Both Barbara and Denise provided excellent service and worked as a team with this patient and family:

"I just wanted to let you know how very much my mother and the rest of the family appreciate the services provided by everyone involved in my dad's care.

He was released from the hospital to his home for the fourth time in one week on Good Friday, at which time, he was still partially mobile. My sister stayed with him Friday night, as my mother is 97 and a bit infirm herself. My husband and I took over on Saturday, helping him with his walker each time he needed to get up. By Sunday (Easter) morning, it was clear that his deterioration had exceeded our ability to care for him safely.

I called the contact number and within 45 minutes, we were assured that transport was on the way. His Hospice nurse, Denise McAfee, came to the house just before the paramedics arrived, took care of my dad and explained that they were taking him somewhere where he would be more comfortable and well cared for. She was wonderful and she took the burden of explaining what was happening off of me, and eased his mind at a time when that had become nearly impossible for any of us to do.

Again, this was all taking place on Easter morning, when most folks were trying to enjoy family. Your family certainly stepped in and took care of mine. It will be an Easter long remembered in our house for the kindness of strangers."

Thank you Barbara and Denise for consistently displaying EXTRAordinary customer service. It is with great pleasure that we honor you as May's Customer Service Co-Champions of the Month!
